As a Congregational church in the UCC, we are deeply and proudly committed to “the Congregational way” - a form of church governance that rests the mantle of authority and leadership upon its members, rather than an ecclesiastical hierarchy.

We are a non-doctrinal church grounded in the insights of the Protestant reformers. This means that while there are no “required beliefs” at the Hills Church, we find great truth and value in the Old and New Testaments and in the claim that it is God's way and will to love us. While we can never earn this love, it is ours nonetheless, given in Christ as a free gift from God.

At the Hills Church, we are proud to stand in a church that is both traditional and progressive. Today, many of our mission efforts are focused on attempts to make the world a more whole place. We are glad participants in Christ's work, including efforts with Habitat for Humanity, the City Mission Society, Woods Mullen Shelter, the Wellesley Food Pantry and many, many other agencies.

In addition, we are very proud of our mission in Southern India. Led by our Associate Minister Reverend Pashington Obeng, this project brings Hills Church members to India where, working with our Catholic partners, we endeavor to free Siddi children from debt slavery.
